There has been a massive response to the surge protector article featured in this week’s March 2011 newsletter, with more than 100 queries jamming Etana’s inbox.
The most common enquiries – where to find a surge protector, how the process works, how to install the device and the discount structure – have been addressed below.
Etana’s approved surge protector is a device designed to safeguard households and businesses from the damage caused by lightning power surges.
How to contact the product supplier – Surgetek
Surgetek has introduced a share call number and an email address dedicated to the insurance industry, and will undertake to respond within 24 hours to all queries/calls. After the site inspection is carried out, the lead time for the recommendations/quotation could be up to one week.

How will the process work?
In order for Etana insurance brokers and Surgetek to maintain control, the client’s name and policy number will be used for tracking purposes and authenticated with Etana brokers. This is to safeguard Surgetek’s discount policy, which will be offered exclusively to Etana policy holders.
Once authentication is received, they will formally quote the policy holder for an appropriate surge/lightning protection solution and explain the installation process.
Installation process
Surgetek will advise the client on the lightning and surge protection solution, and explain the options available to them. Since Surgetek is purely a specialist supplier of SABS IEC compliant lightning/surge products, which can be installed by any registered electrician, they propose the following:
Discount structure
Surgetek offers a discount to the reseller, wholesaler and distributors of their products, and does not offer a discount to the end-user so as to maintain the integrity of the industry.
However, since they are now Etana insurance brokers’ preferred supplier of lighting and surge protection, they will offer a 20% discount to all Etana clients who elect to use the approved product/s.
