On Saturday 28 July 2012, the Etana-sponsored Men’s Lightweight Four rowers will race in the first heat of the 2012 London Olympics, and we’ll keep you informed. Here’s a reminder that the sport of rowing is one of South Africa’s five Olympic sports and a top shot at an Olympic medal.

The world’s Olympian rowers will be racing at the Eton Dorney Rowing Centre at Dorney Lake (see picture), which is acclaimed to be one of the finest rowing venues in the world. It is located about 25 miles (approximately 50km) west of London and our chairman, Paolo, will be watching some, if not all, the races involving our two South African teams. (Paolo has a long and successful involvement with rowing and is chairman of Rowing South Africa’s Selection and Training Commission and was also a member of the Barcelona Olympic rowing team in 1992. It’s incREDible that our very own poweRED Olympian will be watching fellow Olympians as they strive to be the “BEST” and bring back a medal from London.)

Medal hopes are high for this Men’s Lightweight Four because of their excellent performance at a recent World Cup Regatta in Switzerland, where they came second, claiming a silver medal, while racing against the best in the world.

Enjoy the Olympics and we wish every member of Team SA in all sports the ultimate in poweRED performances! Stay up to date with all the results on the Official London 2012 Olympics website: http://www.london2012.com/
