Racing car livery is the vital factor that distinguishes competitors on the track and showcases the financial support structure that helps the team cover their overall expenses.
Etana motorsport driver Barry Scott, who competes in his privately owned and run Chevron B19 historic sports car, recently decided that a makeover was in order. For the best part of the 2011 season Barry’s Chevron had been running in its original racing colours which depicted tobacco branding.
“For personal reasons I decided that change was needed,” explains Barry. “I felt that the colour scheme I was running was not in line with aspects that have changed my life. My mother passed away at a very young age from a smoking-related illness, so it was anathema to me to drive a car carrying tobacco branding.”
Barry decided to apply a striking colour combination of blue and orange to his vehicle. In addition he requested that Etana supply branding which he gratefully added to the car. Etana is a proud supporter of Barry Scott and his partner Michelle Perry, who races a historic Ford Escort.
“Over the course of this weekend we were able to race the car at the Historic Tour meeting at Zwartkops,” says Barry. “We managed a sixth overall out of 30 starters in the one-hour endurance event, with a fourth place in the sprint race, which was very pleasing.
Etana wishes Barry and the Chevron well at their next event. We sincerely hope that the new livery brings many race victories and the best of success.
