On 19 August at Etana House, esteemed business strategist, thought leader and a founder of global consultants TomorrowToday International, Dr Graeme Codrington, captivated an Etana audience with a thought-provoking presentation on disruptive future business trends.
In his talk entitled “After Shock: The TIDES of Change”, Graeme explained why he believes technology, institutional change, demography, environment and sustainability, and shifting social values are the trends that will have the greatest impact on global business over the next decade.
The fact that three Etanans were keeping in touch with the outside world by tweeting about the presentation while it was happening, is proof of the influence of modern technology!
Etana Operations Manager Rochelle Pillay says she enjoyed his global focus on financial and economic interaction, and found it pertinent to Etana.
“Our demographics at Etana include many over 40s and I think some of the information came as a real wake-up call to older colleagues. There are exciting opportunities for all of us, no matter what our age!”
Junior risk surveyor, Bongani Khoza, was most fascinated by the focus on technology, and immediately put what he had learned into practice: “Technology is drastically changing – affecting our lives and the way we do business. I was impressed by Google Alerts and have set up my cell phone to receive a message every time something new goes up on the Etana website,” he adds.
Judging by his Twitter entry, Graeme was as impressed by his visit to Etana, describing us as “one of the best companies to work for in South Africa (actually, in the world!)” – We agree!
