KwaZulu-Natal is more than just a beautiful destination; it is a hub for business opportunities.

With the second-largest gross domestic product (GDP) of all South Africa’s provinces, KwaZulu-Natal is a key area for Etana Insurance. The region's manufacturing industry contributes towards 21% of the province's economy, and is one of South Africa’s largest. In 2014, growth in this sector is estimated to increase by 6.2%, while construction and civil engineering is expected to increase by 8%.

Etana has branches in Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Port Shepstone and Empangeni. "As a company, we have monitored the projected GDP and will be targeting key areas that contribute towards this province's economy,” says Etana Managing Director Nash Omar.

The man responsible for leading KZN’s team in the right direction will be the newly appointed manager Mike Renwick. He brings with him over 30 years of experience, is well respected in the industry and focused on developing relationships with brokers.

Tourism contributes an estimated R6.2 billion to the province's economy. Innovative marketing, product development and a well-established tourism service has fuelled this growth.

"The tourism sector has led to further business opportunities for Etana," says Nash. "I would like to welcome David Pratt to our family, who will be based in Durban and head up Etana Hospitality and Tourism. His core focus will be on the specialised tourism product that we offer. I look forward to working with Mike and David and seeing the added value they will be able to bring to the company.”
