The Etana Academy training sessions that have taken place so far during 2011 have been a resounding success. Sessions have had great uptake, with brokers and Etanans showing a keen interest in these courses and filling classes to capacity.
Due to this demand Etana will be hosting further sessions in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg from July to November. These will focus on specific modules in the short-aligned credit courses. Those attending are required to deposit their refundable R500 fee on registration. The full fee is refunded when the learner passes their examinations.
“The Academy sessions have been well attended this year,” says Etana Academy Head Fatima Maharaj. “We have a variety of modules that focus on different unit standards on the National Qualification Framework (NQF) Level 4. Training on these modules will be available in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.”
The Etana Academy sessions each run over one week, with different sub-units of a particular module being presented via a classroom-style presentation and a course pack. On the final day attendees write a paper set on the module they have just studied.
These papers are sent to an external moderator for assessment. After the completion of the examinations, learners are given a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) to complete three months after they have written their module papers. If the learner is judged competent in each unit standard they are issued with a Statement of Credits. These credits are uploaded onto the Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (Inseta) website and are recognised nationally.
