If you think social networking means a night on the town and that Twitter, Flickr and Facebook are techno trends developed for teenagers, you’d be dead wrong on both accounts.
Social networking is a new means of communicating in a quick and personal way. If you haven’t already done so, get online today and discover how these tools can be put to use in the Etana environment for brand building, reputation management and broker and client networking.
Twitter’s micro-blogging service site is fast becoming the professional’s way to network with business associates and clients, and stay in touch with industry news and updates. As such, it offers the perfect tool for brokers to develop enhanced customer relationship management (CRM) skills.
So whether you choose the real-time status update of Twitter, the fastest growing international network, or Flickr’s photo-sharing platform, which currently hosts more than 4-billion images, or Facebook’s friend network – or a combination of all three – now’s the time to catch up with technology.
Did you know that Etana is currently the insurance company with the largest Twitter presence in South Africa? We have more than 650 followers linked to our Twitter social networking profile. At a recent introduction to social networking workshop, many Etanans who learned how to update their status on Twitter are now actively tweeting. Don’t be left behind by technology - join our Twitter profile today!
Contrary to popular perception, social network usage is not limited to the younger generation. Twitter is the fastest-growing social network in South Africa, with most users aged between 35 and 45. Many Twitterers (as users of Twitter are known) are business and industry leaders. A recent American survey revealed that 60% of users on Classmates.com were over 45 years of age, and 8% of users were over 65! Even on Facebook, the most popular social network surveyed, 62% of users were aged 45 and older. The largest user group was the 35-44 category, comprising 25% of the total.
Social network statistics indicate that 95% of business decision makers worldwide use social networks to some extent. If the president of the United States can find the time to use social networking, there’s no reason why Etana brokers shouldn’t be able to add value to their businesses via social networking!
