Gaynor Mountjoy

A successful team always requires a solid support base. This is the role and function of Gaynor Mountjoy, who works in the Durban region in the Strategic Growth division, better known as the M2 team, where she performs administrative and back-up functions.

Gianluca Tucci

Italians are a passionate bunch. They exude enthusiasm and energy and are not afraid to speak their minds. These attributes can be associated with Etana brand team member Gianluca Tucci.

Greg Scott

Known by friends and fellow Etanans as ‘Scotty’, Greg Scott is based in the Johannesburg Etana office and will be covering various roles within the business insurance field. His main focus, however, will be working with the Commercial and Industrial team led by Charl Swarts. Greg’s responsibility will be looking at strategy development within the centre.

Harry "Benny" Mahadew

Harry Mahadew, better known as Benny by other Etanans, is in charge of underwriting and credit control at Etana’s Durban branch. He joined the company in 1991 as an underwriting clerk from Mutual & Federal. Prior to this, Benny was with NEG Insurance, which was incidentally bought by Mutual & Federal in 1984.

Hazel Bentley

East London-based Hazel (Haze, Hazebabe, Hazydazey) Bentley drives around the town and countryside, “developing further relations with her brokers and showcase why Etana is the best business insurer to work with in insuring their clients are covered”.

Prior to joining Etana early in 2011, Hazel worked for the Blue Team, but says she feels “honoured and blessed” to be working with Etana.

Hennie van der Westhuizen

Jacky Wilmore

Etana’s Durban branch thought it suitable to nickname fellow Etanan Jacky Wilmore as “Willy”. The name has stuck and this lady, who handles office production and marketing, enjoys this kind of camaraderie with her fellow team members.

Jowairiya Mahomedy

Joining Etana’s Durban office at the start of 2012, Jowairiya Mahomedy, known by her colleagues as Jo, conducts market research for the company.

Judy Anderson

Based in the coastal town of Port Shepstone in KwaZul-Natal, Judy Anderson is kicking butt and writing valuable business for Etana. Although working from home as a “one woman show”, she continues to churn out impressive figures.

Judy Byrne

When Judy first introduced herself to fellow Johannesburg Etanans, her icebreaker went along these lines: “Hi, my name is Judy and I am legal.” This line left many in stitches and wanting to know more about their new colleague.

Justin Naylor

Known as “Nails” to some, Justin Naylor is head of Independent Brokers for Etana Johannesburg, where he manages a team of broker consultants who look after independent brokers in this region.

Karen Scruby

Etanan Karen Scruby, “Scrubs” to her friends and colleagues, is a broker consultant for the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast and works from Etana Empangeni.

She joined Etana in 2011 after 15 years with Zurich.

Kobus van Niekerk

Kobus has been through the transformation and change at Etana, having been with the company since its inception, when the brand was known as Fedsure. Before he joined Etana he was a broker for many years.

Kurt Solomon

A real character and a team player, Kurt Solomon works in the Etana brand team. Friends, family and fellow Etanans have given him numerous nicknames such as Solly, Kurtis, The Leb and Turkey – Kurt’s older brother Dane struggled to pronounce Kurtie when they were young, and ended up calling his younger brother Turkey!

Linda Hannigan

Linda Hannigan joined Etana two years ago fulfilling the challenging role of handling claims and salvage at the company’s head office. A day in Linda’s office will give anyone an idea of how diverse the insurance industry is, and how many obstacles exist in the insurance game, each requiring a solution.

Lisa Moodley
