Do you have a nickname?
Ange.
At which branch are you based?
Cape Town.
Please explain what you do.
I am a broker consultant who looks after brokers like AIB and the Murray Clan.
How long have you been with Etana? What did you do before?
I started with Etana on 1 January 2011. Before that I was at Mutual & Federal, heading up the commercial underwriting team.
Etana believes in employing and working with only the best. How do you feel about this?
I feel ecstatic about this because clearly I am the best!
Etana has specific values – be open, know, grow, make it happen and give. How do you feel about these and have you seen other Etanans showcase these values since you joined the company?
Yes, I have. I enjoy the culture of being open and growing (and making it happen and giving). Etanans in Cape Town are certainly not afraid to share their views and opinions!
Provide a fun fact about yourself, what you enjoy doing in your free time or a special characteristic!
I am an avid bike enthusiast, and although not yet riding, I am learning to… I attend bike rallies whenever I am able to. I got engaged on the way to the Eagles Rally in August 2005! (No, I did not get married at a rally, although I considered wearing white leathers!).
What have you enjoyed most about Etana since joining the company?
Being treated with respect and trust.
Tell us more about your family
My husband, Brandall, happens to work for one of Etana’s clients, Transnet. He manages the Berthing Services Department (they tie up the ships that come in to port). Also, I have three dogs (if I had my way I’d own more). Their names are Zephyr (boerboel), Sprocket (boerboel/Dalmatian) and Angel (husky/malamute).
What is your favourite RED thing?
Manchester United (RED Devils), of course!
Do you have a funny insurance story?
I contacted a broker to advise her of her client’s unpaid debit. When telling her that the client may pay it directly into the insurer’s bank account, her response was, “Oh, so you do have a bank account!”
